Emergency Quests (EQs)

Emergency Quests are Quests that pop up at certain times, and come with high rewards, be it Experience or Rare Items.

Generally, Emergency Quests will take place 2 hours apart from each other between certain hours, dictated by the PSO2 staff. They are announced an hour before via the PSO2 EQ Twitter Bot, and commence at the top of the upcoming hour. An announcment is made ingame at 45 minutes past the hour, and will start once the new hour starts.

For a schedule for the major Emergency Quests check http://www.bumped.org/psublog/

The scheduled EQ list from Bumped has also been imported to the Home page, in JST time, along with a JST clock.

This Intro will briefly go over everything you will need to know about general EQs and knowing your way around.

Blocks

Before even starting the Emergency Quest, you must first go to your appropriate block. Failure to do so will leave you alone in an EQ. Since all EQs are Multi-Party Areas (MPAs), you'll be 1/12, which isn't good if you're looking to gain anything. Below is the listing of relevant channels for your convience, with partial translations. Choose your difficulty, and switch as you prefer.

Groups and MPAs(Multi-Party Area)

After arriving on your block of choice, its your choice to join a group or simply go solo. After the EQ starts, and the quest is selected, you will be randomly put with other players until 12/12 is reached. Most of the time, who you're paired with doesn't matter. However, certain EQs such as Dark Falz Loser and Magatsu, a player with Weak Bullet is needed (a Ranger skill).

Continuing this example, if you enter the EQ and start fighting, and don't see the Weak Bullet, then you are best off abandoning the quest and trying to find a new MPA. This is because many others WILL do this, which leaves MPAs unfilled. In this example, both Loser and Magatsu cannot be refilled after starting, which means if it drops down to 7/12, it will never go back up to 12/12 unless you start over. As such, not only do you not have the firepower to finish the enemy, but you may end up spending 30 minutes only to fail.

Special Abilities

One of the most frustrating thing when doing EQs is knowing you're doing all you can, but someone else isn't. Even 10/12s can go faster than certain 12/12s. Why? Because in addition to doing lots of damange, they use special abilities that are extremely helpful to the group at large. These ultimately depend on the EQ, but the most universal of these is the Ranger ability Weak Bullet, which increases the damange of everyone attacking that spot. A 10/12 group with Weak Bullet will always go faster than a 12/12 without.

However, as helpful as certain abilities are, they aren't always needed. For example, Falz Arms don't NEED Weak Bullet, but it is certainly helpful. In comparison, be prepared for a long fight if there's no Weak Bullet user in Apos Doras or Magatsu. To this end, I will clarify as best I can for each EQ.

Seasonal EQs and Bingo Cards

Every special event has its own EQ. Valentine's Day, White Day, Easter, Spring onset and Christmas being just a few examples, will have their own EQs, going as far as to feature their own music as well. These are always accompanied by the NPC Xie, who stands in the center of the lobby. She always has quests to accompany the event EQ, which can sometimes be a major boost to experience gained.

Xie's quests usually play a hand in Bingo Cards as well. These are given to you automatically at the start of a seasonal event, and require you to kill enemies, complete quests, and obtain certain matter boards, among other things. Sometimes you'll get more than one card, but this is rare. Each card also has a Reverse Side, but this only appears after you fully complete the primary side. These don't get experience, but sometimes give amazing rewards.

Other Quests

You should try and familiarize yourself with what EQ is what, as some EQs may be crap for experience, but have an enemy that you need to complete a quest. For example, if you can't kill a Zeshrayda on Super Hard Ruin's Exploration, and yet you need one for a quest, then join any one of the Roaming EQs (covered in another section), as he spawns pretty much everywhere.

In addition to this consideration, always take into account the fact that there are some repeatable quests you can do. Xie's are usually quite a lot of experience, and most of them are repeatable on a daily basis. There's also Hans, Revelle, and countless others who could boost your exp gain for each EQ you do.
